The drama, formally the Royal Dramatic Theater, is Sweden's national stage for the spoken drama. The drama was founded in 1788 by Gustav III, and has since been a continuous activity. The current building, the marble-white theater house, at Nybroplan in Stockholm, was designed by architect Fredrik Lilljekvist and opened in 1908. The theater plays around one thousand performances a year on the six scenes, and in addition, Dramatas performances regularly perform in Sweden.
