The second Chinese-Japanese war, also known as the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), was a major Japanese invasion of northeastern, eastern and southern China before and during World War II. It ended with Japan's capitalization in 1945. In China, the war is primarily known as the anti-Japanese resistance war, but also as the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War of Resistance (中国 人民 抗日战争), the resistance war (抗战), or the eight-year resistance war (八年 抗战).
