Georg VI of Great Britain
Georg VI (English: George VI), Albert Frederick Arthur George, in Swedish Albert Fredrik Arthur Georg, born December 14, 1895 in York Cottage at Sandringham House, Sandringham, Norfolk, died February 6, 1952 at Sandringham House, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the British Commonwealth's dominions from Edward VIII's abdication on December 11, 1936, to his death. From the same time he was also the last emperor of India, until 1947, and from 1949 the first president of the Commonwealth.
Georg VI was second oldest son of Georg V of Great Britain & Mary of Teck and grandson of Edvard VII and Alexandra of Denmark. The name of Georg VI's true name was Albert, called Bertie of the family, but he chose to use the same name as his father as his father's name.
He served in the British Navy during World War I.
